Our Essential Doctrines

  • The Church Emergency League is a Christian association of churches who believe in the only true God. In the unity of the Godhead there are three Persons – God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:18-20). The ultimate goal of this association is to bring glory to the name of Jesus Christ and to seek first His kingdom. (Matthew 6:33)

  • The Church Emergency League (referred to now on as CEL) believes that there is one mediator between God and men, the Man Jesus Christ. Thus, we cannot pray to any except this mediator. (1 Timothy 2:5)

  • The CEL believes that salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. Grace by definition must not include any works when referring to justification before a holy God. (Ephesians 2:8-9)

  • We believe that all men are of one race and born sinners and that the fall of man is the source of guilt, not one’s culture or the past actions of one’s culture. (See Ezekiel 18)

  • The CEL believes that God created man, male and female. It is not possible to change one’s sex. Marriage is the lawful joining together of one man and one woman.

  • The CEL believes in the bodily return of the Lord Jesus Christ.

  • The CEL believes that all souls will live forever; those saved to eternal bliss and those who are not saved to eternal punishment in the lake of fire.

  • The CEL recognizes that Christians are to be peaceful citizens (1 Timothy 2:2) but that we cannot be content to be silent citizens. Jesus Christ calls us to be salt and light in the midst of a decaying and dark nation. (Matthew 5:13-16)

  • The CEL believes that the Bible is the infallible and inspired Word of God. Therefore, it provides the ultimate standard for the laws and norms a churches, states, and nation must follow. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)

  • The CEL recognizes that all authority comes from God. Civil rulers are not free to do whatever they determine or the electorate wants but are bound to follow what God has revealed as ministers of God. (Romans 13:1-7)
